Morocco Eau de Parfum Cologne
Morocco Eau de Parfum Cologne
Morocco. Eau de Parfum.
In Morocco, your senses stop taking turns. Everything arrives at once — the dust, the sweetness, the smoke, the shadow of walls that have absorbed five centuries of spice trade.
You don't visit Morocco. You're absorbed by it.
This fragrance begins where the medina does: vivid, disorienting, alive. Blackberry and plum cut through the heat like color through smoke. Then the city slows you down, as it always does. Honey. Warm wood. The cool of a tiled courtyard after hours in the sun, the kind of relief that makes you stop walking and just breathe.
By nightfall, you've stopped trying to navigate. Incense climbs the walls of an open courtyard. Amber and labdanum settle into the stone like last light. Leather, sandalwood, the spice that's been on your hands all day. It all becomes part of you, the way the city does.
You wear Morocco the way a place wears you. Long after you've left, it stays.
Blackberry · Plum · Honey · Cashmere · Sea Notes · Cedarwood · Incense · Labdanum · Amber · Vanilla Orchid · Musk · Leather · Sandalwood · Spices
Size: 2oz | 60ml
Bottle: Amber Glass Bottle with atomizer sprayer
The inspiration behind this fragrance
There is a question at the heart of every great fragrance. Ours was simple: what does it smell like the moment you step out of the sunlight and into the shade of the medina?
Not a souk in a tourist brochure. The real thing. Narrow enough that strangers share the same shadow. Stalls piled with saffron, cumin, dried rose petals, and resins you don't have a name for. Cedar smoke drifting from somewhere deeper in. The sweetness of fruit in the heat.
That moment of arrival, disorienting and alive and impossible to forget, is what Morocco is built from.
F.A.Q.
Q: Is this fragrance for a man or a woman?
A: This fragrance smells great on men and women!
Q: Is this a perfume or cologne?
A: Actually, it is an Eau de Parfum (EdP). Eau de Parfum is a historically genderless term used to describe both men’s and women’s fragrances.
Generally, an Eau de Toilette concentration can range between 5% and 12%, while an Eau de Parfum concentration can range between 12% and 18%, although the concentrations of EDT versus EdP can vary.
EdP contains a higher concentration of essential/fragrance oils than Eau de Toilette, Eau de Cologne and Eau de Fraiche.
In other words, our Eau de Parfum has a higher concentration of fragrance, which results in a longer-lasting and more aromatic application.
Our Eau de Parfum contains 12% pure perfume essence and can last for about three to eight hours depending on your skin's chemistry.
Q: What is the best way to apply Barberry Coast fragrances?
A: The fragrancex website has a great "how-to" on applying fragrances that we've adapted here for our Barberry Coast fragrances.
- Apply right after you shower onto dry skin. The shower cleanses your body of any other scents and opens your pores, which helps the scent absorb. Completely dry your skin and then spray.
- Hold the spray bottle 3–6 inches from your body. If you hold the bottle any closer you risk over-applying; any further and you will likely under-apply.
- Apply cologne to heated areas of your body. The heat helps diffuse the scent throughout the day and allows it to meld with your body chemistry to develop your signature scent. Heated areas include your neck, chest, pulse points, forearms or inner elbows.
- Start with a light application. If you are new to using fragrances do not apply the EdP to all of the aforementioned heated body areas. Choose one area and start with one spray. If you notice that your scent fades quickly, choose another area and spray the fragrance there the next time you apply. You might want to ask the opinion of a close friend or family member if the application is appropriate, as you can become nose-blind to scents you wear often.
Top 3 Common Mistakes in Applying Fragrances
- Mistake #1: Spraying the fragrance on your clothing. Spraying cologne directly on your clothes prevents them from mixing with your natural oils, which is what gives them their unique quality. This can also prevent the scent from going through its scent stages, rendering the scent flat and monochrome. Finally, spraying a fragrance directly on clothing can be harmful to some fabrics.
- Mistake #2: Spraying a mist cloud and walking through it. While it may seem like this method prevents over-application, it actually renders the cologne almost useless. The majority of your cologne needs to be placed on your body, and applying cologne this way means most of it ends up on the floor.
- Mistake #3: Rubbing the fragrance onto the skin. Rubbing the cologne into your skin actually makes the scent fade faster as it breaks the molecular bond in the fragrance. If you’re not going to spray the fragrance then simply dab, but don’t rub.

After being a devoted fan of the Souks of Morocco - using it as my go-to / daily scent and getting regular compliments, I was a bit disappointed with this new iteration of just "Morocco." Some might not notice the differences, but the differences - even if they may be subtle - are there. This new version opens with a more powdery top note with just a little too sweet....something (the honey maybe?) mixed in. There's also a very noticeable scent of isopropyl at first. It does eventually settle to something closer to the original, but it's still not the same. The longevity/staying power has also suffered with this formulation. I'd been buying Souks since it was launched, but i definitely don't think I'll be buying this one once I'm through it (should've bought the smaller bottle.) What initially hooked me as a long time customer of Hemingway Accoutrements/Barberry Coast was the unique but amazing scents they offered at competitive price. Lately though they seem to be following the late stage capitalist play book, offering declining quality and cookie cutter products (stop trying to imitate, which y'all definitely seem to be doing) at higher pricing. Following that trend - why wouldn't one just default back to designer scents?
Thank you for taking the time to share this, and first, we genuinely appreciate how long you’ve been with us.
I’m sorry this bottle didn’t immediately feel like the Souks of Morocco you’ve known and enjoyed. I completely understand how disappointing that can be, especially when a fragrance has become part of your regular routine.
*One important note: the formula itself has not changed. The name was shortened from Souks of Morocco to Morocco, but the fragrance formula is the same. That said, with freshly made small-batch fragrance, there can be a settling and maturation period after bottling. In some cases, the opening can feel sharper, sweeter, or less blended at first, then smooth out noticeably after a couple more weeks.
My recommendation would be to let the bottle sit for 2–3 weeks and revisit it. I think you may find it settles much closer to the fragrance you remember.
I also hear your broader concern, and I want to be clear that we are not trying to lower the quality or move toward generic, cookie-cutter products. That is the opposite of what Barberry Coast was built on. We’re still owned and operated by Tina and me, with no outside investors, no corporate parent company, and no pressure from anyone telling us to cut corners. I’m still the perfumer and formulator, we still make our fragrances in small batches, and our goal is still to create distinctive scents with character, not chase whatever is easiest or most mass-market.
I really appreciate the honest feedback, even though I’m sorry this first impression wasn’t what you expected. Please give it a little time to mature, and if it still doesn’t feel right after that, reach out to us directly. We’ll do our best to make it right.

Barberry Coast is the best company for fine fragrances. Traditional phthalate-filled fragrances make me nauseous. Barberry Coast’s products are phthalate/synthetic free - you will be able to tell the difference. Wonderful company, great customer service. Stock up today, your arm pits depend on it.
I can’t believe they’re discontinuing this one. I hope they reconsider. It’s a nice and pleasant scent and should continue to be offered.
I’d worn an other absolutely fantastic scent by an other company almost daily, for many years. When I tried the original Signature version that became Barberry’s Finca Vigia, I found the scent to beat all scents. Then I decided to take a shot with Souks of Morocco. Dang…now I’m hooked on both. Thank you for both. Never discontinue them. At least in my lifetime. Please.
when i found the hemingway colognes i fell in love with them and i was surprised that they sold the company but barberry coast is wonderful! im happy they bought hemingway and kept the formulas the same. the only downside for me is the price, thats my issue not barberry coast. i have to save up to buy a bottle. keep up the good work!
This is the scent. My fiancé loves this scent. Great for a night out or if you want to be the one that smells amazing at any gathering. You guys knocked this one out of the park.
Haven't used it yet.
I purchased it because of the note breakdown. I knew I would like it because of those notes. I was correct. It is a nice fall and winter scent that will probably get some wear during the colder cweather. You did a great job with this one. Thank you.
So many appealing and complex notes that blend so well together into this exotic

Let customers speak for us
from 4906 reviewsI started buying on the company website last year after I got what I suspected was a counterfeit product on Amazon. The price is also less on the company website. Generally,it takes them two days to process the order (pick it, pack it, invoice and print the label) - so it usually ships the day after you placed your order (48 hours). My orders ship out of the Southwest, I don't know if they have multiple warehouses - but once the product is picked up, I see it two days later. So if I bought it on Monday - I see the product by Friday. I'm good with that timeline - its also why I buy two bottles at a time, so I don't run out.
I love Bay Rum, it is my favorite aftershave, it does not have that weird funky smell that most men's products have. I am not sure what it is, but thank god it does not have it (the stuff that smell like Axe :))
Anyway, this is the best one that I have found, the most traditional that I have found from what I have read on Bay Rum and the formulation has not changed in the 5 years I have been using it - unlike Royal and St. Johns.
It's light, and settles in quickly, you don't have to worry about using too much because it dissipates so nicely. Also, it is much more like a tonic, I don't just but it on my face after a shave - I rub my scalp chest and arms with it - its a great year round scent for a warm climate. In fact, on hot days, a quick splash is refreshing and cooling.
Why more men don't use Bay Rum is beyond me - but that's cool, I like being the guy that women like to smell. I do wish it came in a larger bottle and a travel size bottle would be great as well. You can travel with the 4oz bottle but it is a bit big for a toiletry bag. A two ounce travel size would be great - I'd buy three of four at a time. As it is, I buy two 4oz bottles every time I start to run low.
So, a great product...one of the few branded products I stick with and I hope they never change.
Awesome aftershave especially for the price. It’s definitely not a scent I’ve had in the past so I appreciate how unique it is. I put it in a spray bottle and it works really well. It’s a very light and refreshing scent/feel and it smells incredible and I’ve gotten lots of compliments on it so far.
In the course of my shaving career (50+ years), I have tried many BayRum Aftershaves from a wide variety of vendors. In my opinion, no one can come close to Barberry Coasts' Aftershave Splash No. 28. Its cool, crisp scent lasts for hours, and its mild ingredients do not irritate one's skin.
I recommend this product unreservedly.
Great service and a quality product
This cologne makes me feel like I'm on vacation, kicking back at a beachfront bar. It has a warm, complex mix of scents that smell fresh for a long time.
It has been very easy to shop for bayberry products on their web site! Great variety to choose from
This is a high quality shaving cream product. It generates a nice lather which provides clean shaving
I use the after shave and skin moisturizer every day. I enjoy the aroma of the bay rum. It reminds me of growing up and going to the barbershop. My skin feels clean and there are no post shave irritation
Smells great!
Another winner from Barberry Coast.
Woods, spices, citrus and bay rum blend to create a perfect warm scent for fall and winter, but good year around too.
Smells like the "holidays" should smell.
I bought two bottles. You have spray a bit and let the bottles sit for two or three months in a dark place for the oils to blend and let the scent mature.
I've been shaving with a brush and shaving soap for more than 30 years and have used dozens of different soaps. This is hands down the best. I love the moisturizing quality, the way it doesn't leave a residue, and the natural ingredients. At first I thought the scent was too strong, but now I love it.
Excited to try this shave cream when it arrived and I was not disappointed. The shave cream lathers well, has an incredible after fragrance and leaves the skin moist. A terrific shave, I would recommend hot water, brush and bowl for best results.
Great smelling, fast service, and decent pricing. This company produces one hit right after the other. I will continue buying from them online rather than buying from retail stores.
I am experimenting with Bay Rum scented products. I have been using Ogallala Bay Rum soap/shampoo. I purchased so I could carry solid soap and shampoo in carry-on luggage. Then I tried aftershave. I like the soap but not the aftershave.
I love Barberry Coast Bay Rum aftershave. I love the scent and the fact that the scent lasts for quite a while. I look forward to trying more products.
